Do you want to engage in prostitution in Germany? Here you can find out how and where to register.
If you engage in prostitution in Germany, you are required to register with the authorities and obtain prior health advice. This registration and consultation requirement applies without exception to all persons who provide sexual services for payment. The health consultation and registration must be conducted in person. You will be issued a certificate confirming your registration. This certificate is valid nationwide and can also be issued in all federal states or municipalities.
If you are between 18 and 21 years old, you must renew your registration certificate after one year. If you are older than 21, you must renew your registration after two years.

- Identity card, passport, passport substitute or ID card substitute
- Current passport photo (without border, 45 mm high x 35 mm wide)
- Current registration certificate or confirmation of registration (not older than 3 months) of your place of residence or main residence or, if you do not have a permanent residence, proof of a delivery address
- Certificate of participation in a health consultation
- If you are not a citizen of the European Union: work permit or documents that allow you to work in Germany
- You have German citizenship or a work permit valid for Germany.
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You have already participated in a health consultation.
- You are currently registered in Germany or can provide proof of a delivery address.
- Please make an appointment to register with the relevant office. Registration must be done in person and will be accompanied by an informational and counseling session. These sessions can be conducted in your native language if necessary. You do not need to bring your own translator.
- You will receive a registration certificate. Upon request, you can also receive an alias certificate.
