Waste disposal from private households and thus also waste paper from private households is the responsibility of the respective public waste disposal authority.
In Hamburg, the Hamburg city cleaning department is responsible for this as the public waste disposal agency.

In addition to the blue waste paper bins, there are almost 2,300 public depot containers available at around 900 locations for the disposal of waste paper - many of them with an extra large opening. Out of consideration for possible residents, please note the drop-in times stated on the containers (weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and keep the pitches clean.

In addition to bulky waste, green waste, recyclables and problematic materials, you can of course also dispose of waste paper at the twelve recycling yards run by the city cleaning department. To order a blue paper bin, please contact your landlord. Property owners please contact the Hamburg city cleaning department. Among other things, your customer number is required for this.
Please consider the following when using the depot containers:
- shred large pieces of cardboard
- do not place anything next to or on the depot containers
- do not put any residual waste and no juice and milk cartons, no foil and no cement sacks and other dusty paper building material sacks in the waste paper
The disposal of waste paper via blue bins and the depot containers is free of charge. There may be costs for the transport of the waste containers.

Baskets, linen bags, collapsible boxes or discarded boxes are ideal for collecting waste paper in the home. These fit in many corners or even under wardrobes. As part of the pre-separation, space can be saved if you fold or tear your waste paper flat. You can then conveniently take it with you and dispose of it the next time you go shopping.
