Do you want to continue working as a prostitute, but your registration certificate is about to expire? Here's how and where you can renew your registration.

If you are already working as a prostitute in Germany, your registration certificate is valid for a maximum of two years. If you wish to continue working as a prostitute, you must renew your registration certificate before it expires. This applies to all persons who provide sexual services for payment.

If you are between 18 and 21 years old, you must renew your registration certificate after one year. If you are older than 21, you must renew your registration certificate after two years.

The extension of a registration certificate can also be done in Hamburg if the previous registration certificate was issued in another federal state.

• Identity card, passport, passport substitute or ID card substitute
• Current passport photo (without border, 45 mm high x 35 mm wide)
• Current registration certificate or confirmation of registration (not older than 3 months) of your place of residence or main residence or, if you do not have a permanent residence, proof of a delivery address
• Certificate of participation in a health consultation
• Work permit or documents that allow you to work in Germany if you are not a citizen of the European Union

• You have German citizenship or a work permit valid for Germany.
• You are at least 18 years old.
• You have already participated in a health consultation.
• You are currently registered in Germany or can provide proof of a delivery address.

• Before extending your visa, you must seek further medical advice.
• Please make an appointment to register with the relevant office. Registration must be done in person. Renewal of registration will be accompanied by a further information and consultation. These can be conducted in your native language if necessary. You do not need to bring your own translator.
• If the necessary requirements are met, you will be issued a new registration certificate and, upon request, a new alias certificate.

The information and consultation session usually lasts 45 to 60 minutes.

In order to continue working in prostitution, you must renew your registration certificate or alias certificate before the registration certificate expires.

The registration certificate or the alias certificate and the certificate of health advice must always be carried when practicing prostitution.
