You can apply for up to 12 working days of special leave per year to work as a leader or assistant at leisure, recreation and training events.
The special leave is intended to enable you as a youth leader to lead or supervise holiday camps (in particular) in addition to your year-round group work, without having to use your vacation time for this purpose.
The granting of special leave indirectly enables many children and young people to take part in holiday and recreational activities. It enables them to attend training courses, work conferences or training events on youth welfare issues and to take part in international youth meetings. The granting of special leave is intended to help you as an active youth leader to further your education and thus qualify you for your voluntary work.
The granting of special leave by employers is therefore a contribution to youth welfare (as intended by law).
The special leave is up to 12 working days per year. You can spread the special leave over a maximum of 3 events per year.
