If you hold a fair or weekly market where only a small amount of livestock is sold, you can request that the event not be monitored. To do so, you must submit an application to the relevant authority.

Special regulations for the prevention of animal diseases apply to events where livestock is offered or exhibited. Livestock includes all farm animals, such as cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, and goats.

You can apply for an exemption from these rules for fairs and weekly markets if only a few animals are offered there.

Informal application

• These are animals that fall into the livestock category. These are farm animals such as cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, and goats.
• The event is an annual or weekly market.
• There is only a small amount of trade in livestock.

• Describe your request and provide all necessary information.
• Send the application by email or post to the responsible office.
• Your application will be received and processed by the responsible authority.
• If necessary, the responsible authority will request further documents or information from you.

If you would like to apply for exemption via the online service:

• You register with the online service and log in with your user data.
• You access the online service
• You fill out the application form.
• After submission, your application will be automatically received and processed by the responsible authority.
• If necessary, the responsible authority will request further documents or information from you.
• You will receive a notification.

Processing usually takes 1 to 3 weeks.

You need an exemption from the official regulations before you can hold the annual or weekly market without these requirements.

The online service is currently only available for the district of Hamburg-Mitte.
