If you wish to organize a dog or cat show or events of a similar nature in a rabies-prone area or with dogs or cats from an EU Member State or third country, you must notify the competent authority beforehand.

Special obligations apply to events involving animals. As an organizer, you have to advertise certain dog shows or cat shows.
This includes dog shows or cat shows and similar events

• in a rabies prone area,
• with dogs and cats from EU member states or third countries.

The notification must also be made for events when dogs and cats participate together or individually. Under certain circumstances, the competent authority can restrict or prohibit events of this type. This may be necessary, among other things, to combat animal diseases. The competent authority will inform you about the restrictions or bans.

You need a permit according to § 11 Animal Welfare Act (does not apply to non-commercial dog shows or cat shows)

You must report exhibitions with dogs or cats or similar events. This is done by the competent authority. You can do this informally or online via the online service.

If you want to place the ad informally:

• Describe your request and provide all necessary information:
  • Details of the organizer and the person responsible
  • Place, time and period of the event
  • Information on the exhibited animal species
  • countries of origin of the animals
• Submit the requested evidence
• Send the application to the competent authority by e-mail or by post
• Your notification will be accepted by the competent authority.
• You will receive a confirmation.
• You will be notified in the event of a restriction or ban.

If you want to place the advertisement via the online service:

• You call up the online service
• You fill out the notification form
• For quick processing by the authorities, upload all the necessary evidence.
• Your notification will be accepted by the competent authority.
• You will receive a confirmation.
• If you have any questions about reporting, the responsible authority will contact you. In the event of a restriction or ban, you will receive a notification.
• In the event of a rejection, you will receive a rejection letter from the responsible authority by post.
