If your permit to transport passengers by taxi is about to expire, you can apply for renewal at the responsible transport authority.

You need a permit to transport passengers commercially in a taxi. You can apply to the responsible transport authority to have your permit renewed. Submitting your application in good time will ensure a seamless transition of your approved taxi business.

Application-related documents:

• Valid permit
• Formal application for reissue with information on:
  • Name, first name of the applicant
  • residence and place of business
  • Date and place of birth (for natural persons)
  • Number of vehicles, vehicle type and capacity

Evidence of professional and financial suitability:

• Service certificates or examination certificates of the applicant or the person appointed to manage the company
• equity certificate/additional certificate
• Certificates of safety:
  • tax office
  • Community
  • social insurance providers
  • professional association
  • (for the company, the legal representatives and the person appointed to manage traffic, not older than 3 months)

Documents for personal reliability:

• certificate of good conduct for submission to the authorities
• extract from the Central Trade Register
• Extract from the Driving Aptitude Register (FAER)

General documents:

• vehicle list
• Proof of liability insurance for taxis including risk code (WKZ)
• business registration
• For partnerships: list of partners, partnership agreement or other proof of contractual authority
• Certified commercial register extract

The safety and efficiency of your company are guaranteed.
There is no evidence of your unreliability or the unreliability of the person appointed to manage the company.
You or the person appointed to manage the company have the necessary professional qualifications.
Your place of business or branch is located in the country.
You already have a valid taxi license.
For legal entities under public law, the requirements are automatically deemed to be met.

The amount of the fees depends on the number of vehicles and the duration of the permit.

The competent authority will examine your application and, if necessary, conduct the necessary hearing procedures.
After the examination has been completed, you will receive a notification that your permit has been reissued. The permit certificates will be issued to you.

Processing times may vary between different transport authorities.

If your application is complete, a decision will be made within 3 months. This period can be extended by 3 months if necessary.
The proof of equity certificate/additional certificate must not be older than 12 months.
The renewed approval is granted for a maximum of 5 years.

The procedure can be carried out in writing or online, provided that the possibility of an online procedure exists.
Submit an application for re-issuance of the permit to the responsible transport authority.
Make sure that all required documents are attached to the application.
When processing applications, existing entrepreneurs will be given appropriate consideration. Consideration will be given in the order in which applications are submitted.
Applications will be treated lower if:

• the applicant does not intend to operate the taxi business as his or her main occupation,
• the taxi company has been sold or leased in whole or in part in the last eight years,
• the operational obligations were not properly fulfilled.

One permit is issued per applicant, unless the number of permits exceeds the number of applicants. During the validity of a permit, you are not permitted to transfer the rights and obligations arising from it to others.
Responsibility for the procedure lies with the traffic authority of the respective independent city or district.
The processing time of your application may depend, among other things, on whether all documents relevant to the decision have been submitted or whether additional documents need to be requested.
Deadlines only begin to run once a decision-making application has been submitted.
The deadline for appealing against your application is one month. You will find further information on how to appeal in the decision on your application.
