Would you like your child to change school?
You can apply for this at the school under certain conditions.
In the 4th grade, guardians receive a recommendation for the type of school. In Hamburg, this is the recommendation for the district school or for the grammar school. The school career recommendation is not binding. You can also enroll your child in a different type of school.
Before the end of the observation phase (at the end of grade 6), it is examined whether the student should continue to attend the chosen type of school or change school type, taking into account the student's level of performance, the support measures previously implemented by the school and the expected development.
Anyone who does not meet the grade requirements set out in Section 13 of the Training and Examination Regulations for Primary Schools and Grades 5 to 10 of District Schools and Gymnasiums (APO-GrundStGy) at the end of the 6th grade of the Gymnasium must leave the Gymnasium and move on to Grade 7 of the District School.
