A parenting assistant or childcare assistant can help your child in everyday life, in dealing with parents and with social problems.
Possible help is:
- Conversations about problems, fears and behavior
- Help in processing stressful experiences
- Support in problem solving with family, friends, teachers or others
- Support with administrative procedures
- Support in finding work and housing
- Help with breaking away from parents
- Help to become independent
- Proof of identity (for example passport or identity card)
- If applicable, proof of custody (e.g. birth certificate, information from the custody register, decision of the family court)
- You are the person with custody of a child (parent or guardian)
- You cannot guarantee that the child is well
- Help from a parenting assistant or a care assistant is appropriate and necessary.
- You contact the responsible authority.
- In a personal conversation, you will be shown possible forms of help. This could, for example, be a parenting assistant or a childcare assistant for your child.
- If you are eligible for this assistance, please submit an application for educational assistance.
- All those involved (you, your child, parenting assistant or care assistant) meet with the responsible agency to discuss the assistance plan. The assistance plan specifies how the assistance should be structured and what goals should be achieved.
- The responsible authority commissions an independent welfare organization. The educational assistant or care assistant is employed there.
This is a type of child-rearing assistance. It can also be provided to young adults. Unlike "social-educational family support," child-rearing assistance focuses its support largely on the child or young person in question. Where possible, the child's social environment is also included.
