The self-dissolution of a foundation is not permitted. A foundation can only be cancelled or dissolved with the approval of the supervisory authority and in a formal procedure.
The supervisory authority will dissolve the foundation ex officio or approve the dissolution of the foundation if the legal requirements are met. The foundation will then be deleted from the register of foundations.

- The foundation must have its registered office in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
- A resolution of the competent foundation body with a majority as specified in the statutes is required.
- The foundation's purpose cannot be fulfilled.
The foundation must have its legal headquarters in Hamburg. Please contact the foundation supervisory authority for the procedure.
Deletion from the foundation directory will take place promptly after final review.
