If you volunteer, you can, under certain conditions, receive a commitment card in recognition of your achievements and receive discounts from participating partners.
With the Engagement Card, the City of Hamburg recognizes your voluntary commitment (volunteering) for the common good. The Engagement Card is a visible sign of your recognition and appreciation. You can also redeem the Engagement Card at public, non-profit and private partners within the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and receive discounts. You must apply for the Engagement Card at the responsible office. The Engagement Card is usually issued to you for a limited period.

- You are at least 16 years old.
- In individual cases, the Engagement Card can be issued from the age of 15. Check the information on the Youth Leader Card (Juleica)
- You have been volunteering for at least one year and intend to continue your volunteer work.
- Their commitment is oriented towards the common good.
- Your commitment is unpaid.
- The payment of an expense allowance which exceeds the tax allowances of Section 3
No. 26 and 26a of the Income Tax Act does not preclude receipt of the Engagement Card.

- You volunteer at least 2 hours per week or 100 hours per year. Your commitment can be combined in different areas of responsibility or with different organizations.
- You live in Hamburg and/or do your voluntary work in Hamburg.
- Commitments made in other federal states may be taken into account in an individual case review.
- You volunteer in one of the following organizations:
- Association or institution whose non-profit status is recognized
- member organization in a welfare association
- Corporation or foundation under public law and their institutions
- public religious community and its institutions
- The organization you are involved with confirms your stated commitment.
- You go to the doin' good gGmbH website and fill out the online application form provided there. Alternatively, you can download the form provided in the download area, print it out and fill it out.
- You send your application to doin' good gGmbH.
- doin' good gGmbH will check your eligibility for an engagement card based on your information.
- doin' good gGmbH asks you to prove your commitment by confirming your organization.
- Your organization confirms your commitment.
- doin' good gGmbH will send you your engagement card by post.
Validity: 2 years.

- The Engagement Card is issued for a limited period and can be extended or reapplied for as often as you like, as long as you meet the required requirements.
- If you have been volunteering continuously for 20 years and would like to remain involved, you can receive a permanent commitment card.
- You have no legal right to an Engagement Card.
- You cannot transfer your Engagement Card to another person.
- The Engagement Card is only valid in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
- You can only use the Engagement Card in conjunction with your identity card.
- The benefits of the Engagement Card are subject to tax if the allowances pursuant to Section 3 Nos. 26 and 26a of the Income Tax Act are exceeded.
