You have permission to take water from surface waters and would like to change your plans? Then you must apply for a change to your permission.
If you want to take or divert water from surface waters, you need a water law permit. Water is taken using pumping or scooping devices. Surface waters are rivers, lakes, canals, streams, ditches and ponds.
If you would like to change a project for which you already have a permit under water law, you must apply to the responsible authority for a change to the permit.

Which documents you need for your application varies depending on the type and scope of your project. In a preliminary discussion with the responsible authority, you can clarify which documents are required in your case. These are usually the following documents:
- Explanatory report
- Extract from the property map (scale 1:1,000)
- Extract from the property register
- Power of attorney for applicant (if not permit holder)
- Consent of other affected property owners
- Site plan (scale 1:5,000)
- Structural plans of the extraction points
- Longitudinal sections/ cross sections
- Pump technical data sheet
- Pipeline plan (including extraction points and water flow)
- Process flow diagram (RI flow diagram according to DIN EN ISO 10628)

A fee is charged for the abstraction of water in accordance with the Surface Water Fees Ordinance (OGewGebO).
