If you are a certified structural engineer with a branch in Hamburg and would like to set up a second branch, you will need a permit.

To set up a second office as a structural engineering testing engineer, you require approval from the relevant authority.

As a structural engineer, you check whether buildings and structures are planned safely and comply with all applicable regulations. Your focus is on ensuring the stability and load-bearing capacity of structures.

• Your application for approval of a second office as a structural engineer should contain the following information:
  • Address of the branch in Hamburg
  • address of the requested second branch
  • Indication of the distance between the branch and the requested second branch
  • Information on the number of employees for auditing activities in the branch and the planned second branch
  • Explanations of how the structural engineers ensure their presence and supervision of the testing activities of employees in both branches

• You are recognized as a testing engineer for structural engineering in Hamburg and operate a branch in Hamburg.
• There are no concerns about the proper performance of your duties, be it due to the number of employees participating in the exams, the distance between branches or any other reason.

There are no fees.

• You submit your application with the required information and documents to the responsible authority.
• The responsible authority will examine your application. If necessary, the responsible authority will request further documents or information from you.
• The responsible body involves all bodies affected by the project and asks them to comment. If necessary, a hearing will be held with you.
• The responsible body examines the opinions of the bodies involved and decides on your application.
• You will receive a notice from the responsible authority.

Depending on the administrative effort involved, the responsible authority will normally decide on your application within 3 months.

You need the permit before you can operate the temporary establishment.
