In future, the long-term unemployed, welfare recipients and other people in need will be able to visit several leisure and cultural facilities in the seaside city with the Bremerhaven Card. By paying a monthly fee, they will have free admission to the municipal theater, swimming pools, museums and other municipal attractions.
Anyone applying for the Bremerhaven Card can obtain it from the Bürgerbüro Nord and Bürgerbüro Mitte for 30 days in three price categories:
- 22.50 euros for one person,
- 27.50 euros for two people and
- 32.50 euros for three or more people.
Family members under the age of six do not need their own Bremerhaven Card. With the time limit of 30 days, those in need can use the following facilities (in some cases only at certain times):
- Historical Museum,
- Municipal Theater,
- German Maritime Museum,
- the baths of the bathing company,
- Ice arena (public ice skating),
- 50% discount at "FUNDUS".
Bremerhaven residents who are recipients of citizen's allowance from the Jobcenter, benefits from the Social Welfare Office and the Office for Youth, Family and Women, receive benefits as asylum seekers or child supplement or are exempt from daycare fees as legal guardians are entitled to the discount.
You need proof of eligibility from the office or institution responsible for you (Jobcenter, Amt für Jugend, Familie und Frauen, Sozialamt) to receive the Bremerhaven Card.
The Bremerhaven Card is only recognized in conjunction with a valid ID card, passport, student ID card or with a document issued by the Foreigners' Registration Office or the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (in the case of recipients under the Asylum Seekers' Benefits Act).
