If you are affected or threatened by homelessness, the Central Housing Office (ZFW) will arrange emergency housing for you to use for a certain period of time.
The Central Housing Unit of the Office for Social Services supports people who have lost their homes.
As a central office, it manages and arranges emergency accommodation for homeless people in emergency shelters and offers help with the current crisis situation.
There are currently a total of 130 emergency shelters in 4 independent facilities and 300 places in so-called simple hotels/guest houses run by commercial providers.
Depending on the specific emergency situation, special contacts and emergency accommodation are available for the following groups of people:
- Single homeless people
- Homeless people or people at risk of homelessness with a criminal record
- Homeless people or people at risk of homelessness who use drugs (illegal drugs)
Accommodation in emergency accommodation is generally available for a maximum of 3 months.
People experiencing acute homelessness should contact the Central Housing Office directly, which will arrange all emergency accommodation.
Outside office hours, emergency admission is possible around the clock in acute emergencies:
- Men - Emergency shelter for men, Rembertiring 49, 28195 Bremen
- Women - emergency shelter for women, Abbentorstr. 5, 28195 Bremen
- Drug users:
- Sleep Inn, Oberneulander Landstr. 19, 28355 Bremen and
- La Campagne, Ahlringstr. 2 - 4, 28309 Bremen
- Housing in emergency shelters is only for single men and women or couples, not for families.
