For individual buildings, from detached houses to office complexes, the upper layers of the earth can be used to generate energy. To set up a geothermal energy extraction system, you must first go through an approval procedure.

The Environmental Protection Agency, Water Authority, is the right point of contact for permission to install a geothermal heat extraction system. Regardless of whether the geothermal heat is to be generated using one or more geothermal probes or geothermal collectors, the project must be approved before the systems are installed.

Depending on the project, various documents must be submitted in order to successfully complete the approval process. These may include

• Declarations of consent from neighbors and
• proof of online notification to the State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology

may be required.

First of all, an appointment must be made with the responsible contact person for the administrative procedure. A consultation will take place there and a list of approved expert organizations will also be available. Once all documents have been submitted in duplicate, the application can be submitted.
