Re-registration of a vehicle after it has been taken out of service to the same vehicle owner (without change of owner)
After a vehicle previously registered in Bremerhaven has been taken out of service, the same vehicle owner can register the vehicle for himself again within 7 years.
Special features:
With the coming into force of the Vehicle Registration Ordinance (FZV) on 01.03.2007, the responsibility within the registration procedure has changed from the "location principle" to the "place of residence principle". For private persons only the registration authority of the main residence is responsible. Registrations to a 2nd place of residence, including re-registrations, are not possible. In the case of legal entities, the company headquarters or a participating branch office in Bremerhaven must be proven.
The registration of a motor vehicle can be done by the owner himself or by a person authorized in writing.

The re-registration must be applied for by submitting the necessary documents. The application can also be submitted by a representative (e.g. car dealer) with a written power of attorney.
The insurance company is automatically informed by the registration authority about the allocation of the license plate.
To avoid longer waiting times, appointments can be made:
-> for Bremerhaven: by telephone at (0471) 590-3470 or 3480.
Note:
Customers without an appointment will be served in parallel, with priority given to appointment customers.
Commercial registration requests will continue to be accepted without an appointment.

Any new license plates that need to be made can be made during the registration process. Private providers have set up shop near the registration offices for this purpose. The cost of the plates is not included in the fees. The license plates are stamped by the registration authority, i.e. provided with stickers for the general inspection and the registration district.
Re-registration on the last registration number shown in the vehicle documents is only possible if the reservation of the registration number was requested when the vehicle was immobilized.
