If you no longer have your registration certificate part II or it is no longer legible, you must apply for a replacement document.
You may only use a vehicle subject to registration on public roads if it has been approved for this purpose by the responsible registration authority.
The registration certificate part II (ZB II) serves as proof that you can dispose of the vehicle and is important, for example
- when selling
- when re-registering
- when financing
You must apply for a replacement document for the registration certificate part II (ZB II) in the event of
- loss
- theft
- illegibility
If the registration certificate Part II (ZB II) has been stolen, you must report this to the police. If you lose the registration certificate Part II (ZB II) or it has been destroyed, make an affirmation in lieu of an oath that your statements are correct.
You may continue to drive your vehicle despite losing the registration certificate part II.

You have lost your registration certificate part II (ZB I), it has been stolen or is no longer legible.
- You must submit an application for the issue of a registration certificate part II (ZB II).
- Either at the place of residence of the vehicle owner
- Or at the location of the vehicle.
- This can either be the last holder of the document or a representative with a written power of attorney.
- You can apply for the registration certificate part II (ZB II) in person on site or via the online service.
Online application:
- The online service guides you through the application step by step.
- You can submit the required documents digitally.
- You will receive the ZB II by post.
Applying in person on site:
- You need an appointment to apply for the registration certificate part 2 (ZB II) in person on site.
- You can arrange the appointment online or by telephone.
- Bring all the required documents with you to the appointment.
- In the event of theft, a confirmation of the theft report from the police must be presented. The registration authority may require a declaration in lieu of an oath about the loss.
- The loss of the original document will be published in the Verkehrsblatt.
- Only after release can the registration certificate part II be collected by the authorized or authorized person together with the new registration certificate part I to be issued.
- It is also possible for the registration certificate part II to be sent to a bank or car dealership.
- The previous registration certificate Part I will be collected by the registration authority at the personal visit.
- Please note that you will have to pay a processing fee again when you collect it (3 weeks after submitting your application).
- If you should find the registration certificate part II that you thought you had lost, the original must be presented to the Citizens' Registration Office North so that the publication in the traffic bulletin can be canceled.
Legal remedy: Objection.
If you have received a replacement document after losing a registration certificate Part II and find the lost registration certificate Part II again, you must hand it in to the responsible registration authority immediately.
