Residents may drive on the dikes and paths without a special permit. In the event of an inspection, presentation of a valid identity card is sufficient.
The dykes are generally open to delivery traffic - except for the Hodenberg dyke. The vehicle registration document and delivery bill must be presented during an inspection.
In the case of weight-restricted dykes, a special permit for weight-restricted roads must be applied for if the permissible total weight is exceeded.
Guests of the inns located on the roads and paths mentioned, acquaintances, friends of residents / neighbors do not receive an exemption permit. However, you can obtain day passes for driving on the dykes from the police stations in Horn, Oberneuland, Borgfeld, Schwachhausen and Findorff.
An extension of the permit for horse farm visitors is only issued for one year.
The extract from the land register or the property tax assessment notice is required so that the applicant can provide proof of ownership. This does not apply to the residents of the dyke roads, but mainly to farmers who have land, meadows etc. there but do not live there. Or horse owners who have bought a meadow on the dyke and have stabled their horse there, etc.
The extract from the land register is required because land (meadows, etc.) is not listed individually in the property tax assessment notice, but this proof is absolutely essential for checking the application to drive on dyke roads and paths.
