Anyone moving into an apartment must register with the registration office at their place of residence within two weeks of moving in.
The registration must be done within two weeks after moving into the (new) apartment at one of the BürgerService facilities of the Bürgeramt. Please note that different forms are offered for the registration of families and the registration of individuals. The form for the registration of individuals is also to be used by persons moving together but not married to each other or living in a same-sex registered partnership.
When moving from abroad, personal appearance is generally required for all persons required to register.
If you do not speak German sufficiently, you must bring an interpreter with you. This does not have to be a sworn interpreter. It can also be a person you trust.
Registration via the Internet is not possible.
- Proof of identity

- For the registration of married persons
Marriage certificate. If no international marriage certificates are available: additional translation by a sworn translator and, if necessary, legalization/apostille.
- For the registration of children
Birth certificates. If no international birth certificates are available: additional translation by a sworn translator.
- All persons to be registered (including children) must appear in person at the residence registration appointment when moving from abroad.
If you have moved to Bremen from abroad, you must register your residence at one of the Bürgerservicecenter in Bremen.
- Make an appointment at one of the citizen service centers to register your residence after moving from abroad.

- From the age of 16 no signature of the legal guardian is necessary.
