When the 14th Ordinance Amending the Driving License Ordinance comes into force on Dec. 31, 2019, persons who have held a Class B driving license for at least 5 years without interruption and have reached the minimum age of 25 may drive Class A1 domestically by attending a driver training course. The authorization is documented by the entry of class B with the key number 196 in the driver's license.

• Important information about the photo booths in all offices of the Citizen's Office:
  • The machines are operated by outside companies and often do not work. It cannot be guaranteed that passport photos can be taken on site. We advise you to bring passport photos to the appointment.

• Proof of driver training in accordance with Annex 7b FeV

• Minimum age 25 years
• At least 5 years of uninterrupted possession of class B.
• Proof of driver training in accordance with Appendix 7b of the Driving License Ordinance (FeV). The contents of the driver training course can be found in Annex 7b of the Driving License Ordinance. The certificate must be presented to the driver's license authority within one year of completion of the driver training course.
