The Youth Music School is intended to offer all children, young people and parents of music students in Bremerhaven an opportunity to actively engage with music within the framework of general educational tasks. It aims to awaken a love of music, promote an understanding of music and guide learning and music-making according to pedagogical and musical principles. The musical education acquired at an early age is intended to provide a meaningful occupation for later life.

Our aim is to awaken the joy of making music and to help students develop their own technical, musical and stylistic performance standards.

Our task is to provide a comprehensive, basic musical education, to train young people for amateur and amateur music-making, to support talented young people and to provide pre-professional specialist training.

The youth music school with its office and 11 classrooms is located at Grazer Straße 61 in Bremerhaven. Lessons are also offered at a further 13 locations from Leherheide to Grünhöfe. This means that, as a rule, young pupils can be offered lessons at locations within a short distance of their homes.

The lessons offered by the youth music school are based on 4 core areas:

• Elementary music education (for infants from 9 months and children from 2 ½ - 6 years) with 5 different types of lessons tailored to age.
• Instrumental/vocal lessons: 30 or 45-minute individual lessons for all solo and orchestral instruments, group lessons for 2 to 6 participants, instrument carousel, bongo group.
• Ensemble and supplementary subjects: children's choir, chamber choir, youth choir, adult choir, playing groups, chamber music, orchestra, ensemble, band, music theory/listening education (preparatory lessons).
• Project offers: Cooperation with general education schools: orchestra classes, rehearsal of musicals and large-scale musical projects.

You must be of legal age to register yourself or a child.

You fill out the form completely and send it off. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail in which you have to click on a link again so that the registration can be sent.

The application will then be processed by the youth music school and you will receive a confirmation by post or e-mail. This will tell you whether you are on the waiting list or whether you are directly registered for lessons.

Different conditions apply in some cases for cooperation with schools and daycare centers.

Pupils from the surrounding area of Lower Saxony can also take part. However, these students must pay a surcharge.

If you wish to apply for a social discount, you will need to provide the relevant proof. You can request an application for this in the registration process.
