Would you like to send your child to school early?

If your child will not be 6 years old until after 30.06. in the year of school enrolment for children of compulsory school age and if you can envisage your child starting school early due to his or her stage of development, then you can apply for this at the relevant elementary school. For children who will be 6 years old by September 30th of a given year, the application is considered to be an invitation from the responsible elementary school. For children who turn 6 between 01.10. and 31.01. of the following year, an informal, written application to the relevant elementary school is required.

The educational staff at the daycare center and the head of the elementary school can advise you on the best time for your child to start school.

Children who turn 6 years old in the period from July 1 to September 30 of a given year can apply for compulsory schooling. The application is deemed to be the enrollment following an invitation from the responsible elementary school. Registration is binding and cannot be canceled.

Children who turn 6 in the period from October 1 of one year to January 31 of the following year can be required to attend school upon written application.

Parents whose children were born in the aforementioned period will not receive a school enrollment notification.

A school doctor's recommendation is used to check whether the child is ready for school. It is checked whether the child's linguistic, cognitive and social abilities will not be overtaxed by the lessons and the rest of school life.

The legal guardians of children who turn 6 years old between 01.07. and 30.09. of a year receive a school enrollment notification from the authorities. If desired, they can register the child on the date specified by the school; this is considered an application.

The legal guardians of children who turn 6 between 01.10. and 31.01. of the following year do not receive a school enrollment notification from the authorities. They must register the child at the relevant elementary school during the registration period.

The school management decides on admission, in particular on the basis of the school medical report. The school can request a statement from the daycare center via the parents if necessary.
