Every year in the first quarter of the year, the City of Bremerhaven organizes a reception in honour of sport. Various individuals and organizations are honored:

• Active athletes who have achieved special achievements in sport in the past year.
• Volunteers who have rendered outstanding services to sport,
• Sports clubs that perform extraordinary activities beyond sport, for example in the areas of inclusion, integration or the special promotion of adults and young people.

• The following information is required:

  The full names and contact addresses of the athletes and volunteers to be honored, including information on their achievements.

• Persons with main residence in Bremerhaven

Individual athletes,

• represented in the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) or equivalent associations.
• 1st, 2nd or 3rd place at the World, European or German Championships or Olympic Games/Paralympics.
• or world, European or German record in the highest performance category of a sport.
  
  

Bremerhaven teams,

• with the first 3 places at world, European or German championships.
  • These include age group, youth, junior, senior, disabled and handicapped championships.

Volunteers,

• at least 15 years of voluntary work in a Bremerhaven sports club or association.
  • Activity must have begun after the age of 18.
• Exemplary promotion of sport in the city through long-standing or one-off particularly meritorious commitment.
• Official activity is carried out in the previous calendar year.

• Authorized persons from the club's board of directors enter the individual athletes, teams or volunteers to be honored, along with their successes and other required information, in the honor form.
• They will have received an online access link for this in advance by email.
• After completing and submitting the form, the award is received digitally by the sports office and can therefore be checked and processed further.
• If registered athletes meet the requirements for an award, they will be invited by the Office for Sport and Leisure by email.
