As a trader, you are obliged to collect your waste separately and dispose of it properly.

Businesses must separate their waste. Commercial businesses are provided with residual waste garbage cans by Bremer Stadtreinigung and must dispose of their residual waste in the residual waste garbage cans provided by Bremer Stadtreinigung. Organic and paper garbage cans are also available on request.

Commercial waste includes all waste from the trades, services, commerce and public institutions. If the commercial waste is similar in type and composition to residual waste from private households, you must have this waste disposed of by Bremer Stadtreinigung. This means that you may only dispose of this commercial waste in the containers provided by Bremer Stadtreinigung.

Commercial businesses are only obliged to hand over residual waste to DBS. This obligation to hand over waste is known as separation liability for commercial enterprises.

Fees are charged for the provision of waste containers and the disposal of non-recyclable waste by Bremer Stadtreinigung. The waste fee for commercial customers is made up of a basic fee and a service fee, as is the case for owners. The basic fee for your commercial business depends on the size of your office space. An additional service charge results from the residual waste garbage cans available. Here, the size of the garbage can to be provided for commercial businesses is based on an industry-specific minimum bin volume. The volume ranges from 1 liter to 13 liters per employee, student or bed per week (e.g. in hospitals) and depends on the industry.

The following commercial municipal waste must be kept separate, stored, collected, transported and recycled to ensure environmentally friendly disposal of commercial municipal waste:

• plastics
• metals
• biodegradable kitchen and canteen waste, biodegradable garden and park waste and market waste.

• You can apply in writing to order/deregister waste garbage cans. Use the order form to send your request by post or digitally.

• You can contact customer service at Die Bremer Stadtreinigung by telephone and order garbage cans for your business.

No commercial waste may be handed in at the recycling stations.

The Commercial Waste Ordinance does not apply to waste that is subject to the statutory take-back obligation, such as batteries and packaging.
