If you are moving house or planning deliveries and collections, you can apply for a temporary no-stopping zone. Find out more here.
Setting up a temporary no-stopping zone can be useful if you are planning a move, expecting a delivery or having construction work carried out, for example. If you want to set up a temporary no-stopping zone, you must apply for a permit from the relevant authority in advance. Depending on the circumstances on site and your requirements, you may be granted a one-sided or two-sided no-stopping zone.
- Application with information on
- Place
- Period
- required length in meters
- Power of attorney, if applicable, if you are submitting the application as a representative
You have a legitimate interest in setting up a no-stopping zone, which justifies the need for a temporary traffic restriction.
- You submit your application online together with the required documents to the responsible office. You will find the link to the online service under "Forms".
- You can also submit an informal application by fax, e-mail or post.
- The competent office will check your application and request any missing information or documents from you.
- The competent body will inform you of its decision on the application in writing. If the competent authority approves your application, you will receive a road traffic order to erect the necessary traffic signs.
- You erect the traffic signs and record the time and exact location of the erection in a written protocol. Alternatively, you can commission an installation service.
- If you no longer need the no-stopping zone or the approval period has expired, make the signs ineffective. If necessary, return the signs to the issuing authority.
- Traffic signs are not provided by the road traffic authority.
Processing is usually carried out as quickly as possible or promptly. A processing time of approx. 14 days can be expected.
Submit the application at least 14 days before you intend to set up the temporary no-stopping zone.
The duration of the no-stopping zone is specified in the permit.
The required traffic signs must be erected at least 4 full working days (96 hours) before the no-stopping zone is used.
- You may only erect traffic signs in accordance with the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO).
- In the event of damage, you may be liable as the person submitting the application.
- Third-party vehicles in the established no-parking zone can be removed.
- Do not block off parking spaces with lines, tapes, boxes or chairs. Other people looking for a parking space can and may remove these obstacles and park. The police will also intervene if they detect such barriers. A warning or fine is then often imposed.
