If you are looking for or taking up a new job or training, you can have your expenses (e.g. travel costs and costs for certificates) reimbursed. This also applies to expenses that you incur within the first 6 months of starting work.
If you receive citizen's allowance, the support from the placement budget is intended to help you find and take up a new job or training. The local job center can support you financially by covering the following costs, for example:
- Application costs,
- Travel costs to job interviews,
- Costs for necessary documents (e.g. certified copies, translations) or
- relocation costs (if you have to move for the new job).
You must submit your application before you incur the expected costs.
You can receive funding if you receive or have received basic social security benefits, are unemployed or threatened with unemployment and
a) wish to take up employment or training subject to compulsory insurance within the Federal Republic of Germany or
b) take up employment subject to compulsory insurance in a member state of the European Union (EU), a signatory state to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in Switzerland. The prerequisite for this is that you work at least 15 hours per week.
You cannot receive support from the placement budget if
- the employer provides similar benefits or
- other public bodies are legally obliged to pay similar benefits.
Please note that you have no legal entitlement to funding from the placement budget. Your local job center will decide whether and to what extent you will receive financial support. You must also provide proof of your expenses.
Depending on the support you have applied for, you will need to submit the relevant supporting documents. Your contact person will tell you which documents must be enclosed with the application.
