If you keep ducks and geese together with chickens or turkeys in order to detect a possible infection of the animals with avian influenza at an early stage, you can obtain confirmation from the competent authority.

You need this confirmation so that you can exhibit your ducks and geese at a poultry exhibition or poultry market without prior testing for avian influenza.

You must notify the competent authority immediately if you keep the animals together.

Erforderliche Unterlagen

  • Proof of Annex 2 of the Ordinance on Avian Influenza (correct number of sentinel animals (chickens or turkeys kept together))

Voraussetzungen

  • The animals are geese, ducks, chickens or turkeys.
  • You have been keeping the animals together for at least 7 days before the event.
  • The event is a poultry market or a poultry exhibition.
  • You keep the prescribed number of chickens or turkeys together (see links for information).

There are no fees.

Verfahrensablauf

You can report the joint keeping of your ducks and geese with chickens and turkeys for a poultry market or poultry exhibition in writing or via an online service.

If you wish to submit the notification in writing:

  • You describe your request, giving all the necessary information.
  • You submit all the necessary documents.
  • You send your notification to the competent body.
  • The responsible office checks your complaint.
  • If there are any queries, the responsible office will contact you.
  • You will receive a confirmation.


If you wish to submit the report via an online service:

  • You call up the online service.
  • Fill in the notification form.
  • You upload all the necessary documents.
  • Your report is sent to the responsible office.
  • The responsible office checks your report.
  • If there are any queries, the responsible office will contact you.
  • You will receive a confirmation.

The processing time depends on the scope of the advertisement. Processing normally takes 1 - 3 weeks.
