If you wish to operate a craft subject to licensing as a standing trade on a self-employed basis, you must be entered in the Register of Crafts. A standing trade is any trade whose activity cannot be attributed to itinerant trade or market trade.

Natural and legal persons as well as partnerships can be entered in the register of skilled crafts.

If there is a change in your registration in the Handicrafts Register, you must immediately notify the Chamber of Crafts and the relevant Trade Licensing Office.

Single Point of Contact (Einheitlicher Ansprechpartner)

For this procedure, you can use the service of the Single Point of Contact. They will guide you through the administrative procedure, take care of correspondence with all the offices responsible for your request and will be available to you as a competent advisor.

• Application for change in the register of skilled crafts

• trade re-registration of the responsible trade office

• A natural or legal person or a partnership can only be entered in the register of qualified crafts if the requirements for the independent operation of a skilled craft as a standing trade are fulfilled (Section 1 (1) HwO).
• Registration is also possible if a company provider is employed who fulfills the requirements for entry in the register of skilled crafts with the skilled craft requiring approval to be operated or with a related skilled craft.

Note: The crafts subject to registration are listed in Annex A to the Crafts Code.

For the change of your registration in the register of qualified crafts, fees are charged according to the fee schedule of the respective Chamber of Crafts.

• You can submit the application in person or in writing to your responsible Chamber of Crafts (HWK),alternatively via the Single Point of Contact (EA).
• Depending on the offer, you can access the application form on the Internet.
