As the person responsible for radiation protection, you must inform the authority if you appoint or dismiss radiation protection officers. This also applies if the area of responsibility or the powers of radiation protection officers change.

If you, as the person responsible for radiation protection, appoint a person as a radiation protection officer, you must inform the competent authority for radiation protection immediately.

In the appointment, you must also specify the tasks and powers of the radiation protection officer as well as the internal decision-making area.

You must also inform the competent authority

• if the radiation protection officer leaves the company or if you discharge him/her and appoint another person as radiation protection officer
• if the duties or powers of the radiation protection officer change.

• Proof of current expertise in radiation protection in accordance with the Radiation Protection Act (StrlSchG)
• If applicable, proof of activities within the scope of further licenses with these or other operators, stating the operator and to what extent
• for physicians: Proof of license to practice medicine

• The authority has no reservations about the reliability of the person you appoint as radiation protection officer and inform the authority of.
• The required expertise in radiation protection is available.
• In the case of doctors: License to practice medicine

No payment is made in the notification procedure. Payment is made by the notifying party by bank transfer only after receipt of the confirmation together with the fee notice.

• Use the form available online to notify the authority of the appointment or dismissal of a radiation protection officer. Send a copy of your notification to your works council or staff council.
• The authority will check your details and the requirements. If necessary, your notification will be confirmed; in any case, you will be notified of the administrative fee.

You must submit the notification to the competent authority without delay.

• The confirmation of the notification is not an administrative act and is therefore not provided with a classic instruction on legal remedies.
• The notification of fees sent with the notification contains information on legal remedies. An appeal can be lodged with the administrative court.

• Notification of appointment, change of duties or powers or resignation of a radiation protection officer Receipt

• Details of the X-ray equipment or radioactive substances that the radiation protection officer will handle
