If you have a valid preliminary building permit for your building project, you can apply for an extension of the permit.

You can extend a valid preliminary building permit before it expires.
An extension is valid for three years.

You can apply for an extension of the preliminary building permit electronically via the online service or in writing in paper form.

To use the online service, proceed as follows:

• Log in with your user account. You will need a BundID account to submit an application as a private individual. If you are applying on behalf of an organization (company, public authority, etc.), you will need a "My company account".
• Complete the online form.
• Submit the application documents to the responsible lower building supervisory authority.
• If documents are missing or there are other ambiguities, you will be asked to rectify these.
• In this case, submit the missing or amended documents and/or the clarification.
• The lower building supervisory authority will review your application.
• You will then receive notification of the extension and a fee notice.
• You pay the fees.

The application must be submitted before the period of validity of the preliminary building permit to be extended expires.
