Land consolidation = combination of appropriate reorganization of land ownership with investment in infrastructure in rural areas
Land consolidation (land readjustment) refers to procedures for the reorganization of rural land ownership in accordance with the Land Consolidation Act (Flurbereinigungsgesetz - FlurbG).
The reorganization of ownership structures and accompanying infrastructure measures (e.g. rural road construction) are intended to eliminate conflicts of use and improve the development of rural areas. At the same time, land can be made available for third-party measures.
Expenses incurred by the landowners involved (participants) during the implementation of the procedures (e.g. costs for road construction and surveying) can be subsidized as implementation costs.
As a land consolidation procedure usually lasts several years, it is important to choose the appropriate type of procedure. The type of procedure that can achieve the desired objectives as simply, quickly and cost-effectively as possible is always selected.
The FlurbG distinguishes between the following types of procedure:
- Standard land consolidation according to § 1 FlurbG
- Simplified land consolidation in accordance with § 86 FlurbG
- Corporate land consolidation according to § 87 FlurbG -> Choice for large-scale construction projects, e.g. highway construction
- Accelerated consolidation procedure according to § 91 FlurbG
- Voluntary land swap according to § 103a FlurbG (special case)
