Once you have passed the first legal examination, you can begin the legal traineeship. The aim of the legal traineeship is to train you to practise the traditional legal professions. To this end, you will complete 4 compulsory stages and one elective stage.
The preparatory service generally lasts 2 years.
It ends with the second state examination in law.
During the preparatory service you are a trainee lawyer.
In Saxony-Anhalt, you can complete your traineeship in the following regional court districts:
- Magdeburg
- Halle
- Dessau-Roßlau
- Stendal
- Proof that you have passed your first law exam
- a certified copy of the certificate of exmatriculation (for law)
- a handwritten and signed curriculum vitae
- a birth certificate
- if applicable, other original civil status certificates
- for married applicants: a certified copy of the extract from the family register
- if applicable, a certified copy of the certificate of length of service
- Certificate of good conduct (document type "O")
- for foreign nationals: a valid certificate of residence
If you would like to start the legal traineeship, you must first apply for it.
- Submit your application together with all the necessary documents to the relevant office.
- Make sure you meet the deadline.
- You can also specify a preferred location in your application.
- You will be offered a traineeship. You must accept this within a certain period of time. Otherwise this position will be reallocated.
