You have passed your first state examination and would like to apply for admission to the legal preparatory service? You can find out more about it here.
Once you have passed the first law examination, you can start the legal preparatory service. The aim of the legal preparatory service is to gain practical legal experience in four mandatory stations and one elective station.
The preparatory service generally lasts two years on a full-time basis.
It ends with the second legal examination.
During the preparatory service, you will be a legal trainee in a training relationship under public law.
If you would like to start the legal preparatory service, you must first apply for it. Recruitment takes place in April and October.
- Submit the application together with all the necessary documents to the relevant office.
- Be sure to meet the deadline. All documents required for the application, in particular the certificate confirming that you have passed the first state law examination, must be received by the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Bremen no later than six weeks before the respective hiring date (Section 2 of the Ordinance on the Selection Procedure and the Allocation of Training Places for the Legal Preparatory Service of the State of Bremen).
- You will be made an offer for a legal clerkship. You must accept this offer within a certain period of time. Otherwise, this position will be awarded again.
Immediately after the application deadline, you will be informed in writing about the success of your application.
Hiring takes place on April 1 and October 1 of each year. Your application must be complete with all documents at least 6 weeks before the start date.
